This project serves neighborhoods and communities that have small, unused green spaces such as roadside berms, medians, and leftover grassy areas that are difficult to maintain or serve little purpose. By turning these overlooked spaces into native wildflower patches, the community gains more beauty, pollinator habitat, and a stronger connection to the natural environment. Converting unused berms and roadside green spaces into native wildflower habitats reduces maintenance costs by eliminating frequent mowing and lowering fuel, labor, and equipment use. Native wildflowers require minimal upkeep once established and only need to be cut once per year. At the same time, they create important habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife while making overlooked spaces more vibrant and ecologically valuable.
$1,000-$3,000
Wildflower areas can look sparse or weedy during the first growing season while plants establish. This can require patience and occasional maintenance.
