Most people don’t realize that the Chattanooga Audubon Society owns Maclellan Island. We are a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating with a limited budget, and at this time we simply do not have the resources needed to restore and steward the island in the ways it deserves. Because of that, we are asking for support from the community. Chattanooga takes great pride in its riverfront, and Maclellan Island is a remarkable asset within that landscape. We believe this National Park City Seed opportunity can help highlight both the island’s potential and the barriers the Chattanooga Audubon Society faces in restoring and activating it for the public. Thank you for your support! [photos provided by Chattanooga Tourism, Views From Above, and Apex Views]

This is such an iconic part of the Chattanooga river front. It seems like something the city of Chattanooga should support! Especially if it increases opportunities for tourism downtown.
